Kuwait – A sheep, known for its particularly good breeding ability, has sold for a record KD25,000 (Dh323,241) in Kuwait.The sheep is named Mayzoon and breeders are willing to pay up to KD200 for use of it for just one evening, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Tuesday.

The tup, the farming term for an uncastrated sheep, will prove a bargain in the long term, according to local experts.

The new owner who purchased Mazyoon at a public auction preferred to remain anonymous, but was a member of the ruling family, the daily said. “It is the biggest bargain in Kuwait’s sheep market history,” Malfi Al Dihani, who organized the bidding, said. “A new deal is being worked out for another sheep, but this time only for KD8,000." Al Dihani said that sheep trading is doing well in Kuwait recently and that one breeder made KD170,000 in one year.

Iran nuke agency trying to stop computer worm

TEHRAN: Iran's nuclear agency is trying to combat a complex computer worm that has affected industrial sites throughout the country and is capable of taking over power plants, Iranian media reports said. Experts from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran met this week to discuss how to remove the malicious computer code, or worm, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported Friday. The computer worm, dubbed Stuxnet, can take over systems that control the inner workings of industrial plants. Experts in Germany discovered the worm in July, and it has since shown up in a number of attacks - primarily in Iran, Indonesia, India and the US.

India takes top place in Forbes Asia's Fab 50

India had 16 entries on the annual roster of the best 50 big-capitalisation and profitable companies in the region list, compared with 13 last year and only three when the inaugural Fab 50 List was published in 2005. A lot of Indian companies displayed staying power with 11 firms returning to the list.

Kuwait considers WiMAX and internet services

Kuwaiti legislators are to discuss a draft law to establish a shareholding company to provide internet and WiMAX services in the country, Kuwait Times has reported. The parliament's public facilities committee hopes to finalise the draft law for discussion at the start of the parliament's next term, along with other communication-related draft laws.
