An Enchanting Evening of Ghazals in Kuwait

 Kalanjali Kuwait presents – An Enchanting Evening of Ghazals – featuring the Prince of Ghazals & Bhajans – Sunil Kumar Mungee, on 27th May 2010, in Indian Community School, Khaitan Branch, from 7 pm onwards.

His Excellency Ajai Malhotra – Ambassador of India, Kuwait, will inaugurate the event. The program will be presided over by Dr. Saleha Al Moosa, well-known Kuwaiti and MD of Al Moosa Travels.
 
Sunil, a child prodigy accepted in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara for learning music, was a disciple of Padmashree Late Pandit Jitendra Achisheki, a maestro of Indian music, learnt various forms of Indian Music, ranging from Hindustani Classical to Light Classical.
 
Sunil has given Vocal performance for prestigious Music Festivals and Organizations in India such as The Tansen Festival, Calcutta; India International Centre, New Delhi; NCPA, Mumbai; Taj Festival, Agra; Lucknow Mahotsav, Lucknow; Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal; Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandighar;Lata Mangeshkar Felicitation Samaroh, Indore; Ustad Abdul Halim Felicitation Samaroh, Mumbai and the Koombh Mela Allahabad.
 
His range of voice and melody has given him the capability of applying music as an art for healing, thereby brining about the power of music to heal. He has performed from the East to the West Coast in the USA for various organizations and music universities and has performed with British pianists in the UK, brining about fusion of Indian Classical and Jazz.
 
Sunil enjoys the blend and the influence of different cultures on his music and makes an effort for the western audience to understand experience and appreciate the rich, traditional and ancient Indian music. Sunil has performed in USA, UK, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UAE, and Australia and African continents besides India.
 
Sunil has been the recipient of many national awards including the coveted title of "Sur-Mani" which means the jewel of music.
 
The Government of USA has honored him for popularizing the rich music of India in USA, in 1998 with the permanent resident status.
 
Sunil has performed for the prestigious World Music Festival at the M.I.T. Boston, U.S.A, for which he was highly applauded. Another Concert that has gained tremendous popularity is The Journey to Music of India, a unique history-making Performance, as Asian Music had never been performed in various States of U.S.A., as it has a complete American population, wherein, he not only had a Hindustani Classical Concert, but did also give them a flavor of other forms of Music. Another unique Concert organized for the residents of various hospitals and nursing homes – “Healing through Indian Music” has gained tremendous popularity.
 
  • Sunil’s album of Devotional music has been launched by the pioneer music company HMV and has been declared a “HIT”.
  • Well-known Tabla player Pradip Kumar Ghosh and Santoor player Piush Pawar are accompanying Sunil.
