New Labor Law in Kuwait - Sick leaves

According to the new Kuwaiti labor law, the number of sick leaves are 40days in a year. I think this is one of the best sick leave plans ever seen

A worker is entitled to 40 days of paid sick leave, with full pay for the first 10 days, 75 percent pay for the next 10 days, 50 percent pay for the following 10 days and 25 percent pay for the last 10 days. An employee is entitled up to 30 days of unpaid sick leave if all his/her paid sick leaves are used up.

This is a 40 days of paid and 30 days of unpaid leave. Still to understand is whether the bylaws are going to clarify that the days are counted as business days or calendar days.

I am sure that the law makers must have thought about this in very depth. This will definitely lead to more employee requirements and the companies will struggle to meet the law strictly. Anyways, it is definitly a good law for employees and will give a better human face for Kuwait as a country.

vacation leave

I would like to know if I am entitle to vacation leave pay. I work to this company outside kuwait and the company is under the kuwait labor law. I dont have kuwait visa and i dont have a company resident visa as well. Under my contract I am entitled to vacation leave pay but the company told me that I am not beacause I dont have a resident visa.

@enrico

I think, without a valid workpermit, you are not eligible for Kuwait labor law. How do ou work without having kuwait residency?
